A 17 year old male came in for dislocation of his jaw after a fist fight at school. Usually, for TMJ pain, we use “Gallbladder tonify” when patients have a hard time closing the jaw, “Stomach sedate cold” for pain when opening the jaw, and “Spleen tonify” when opening and closing is difficult. 

Therefore, “Stomach sedate cold” was used on this patient, and right after the needle was inserted, he was able to talk and did not have a clicking sound anymore. Usually, TMJ symptoms require a longer treatment plan, however, it worked well for this acute case.
